Paulaner

Paulaner is a network of German beer pubs that is today well known in different countries. Paulaner is also present in Armenia. It has 2 pubs: one

in near Cascade that was the first one to be opened and the second one that was opened recently near Northern Avenue.
Both of them have a summer outside sitting area. The interior in the 2 places is the same. It can be described as a very German style big pub. The waiters here wear special uniforms at the style of the Bavarian costumes. The inside has small details that along with the general style of the inside make it a very nice and cozy place.
The menu here is so great that it is even hard to tell what is worth a try here because actually you need to try everything here. One of the main dishes here is the sausages that come I different forms and tastes: Bavarian, from Vienna – you pick. The sausages come with cooked cabbage and pickled peppers that are delicious. Apart from the main dishes you should also try here garlic bread, cheese balls that come with special sauce, their special soups, and of course – shrimps.
Besides these delicious dishes the reason you come here is THE BEER: filtered, unfiltered, 0,33 liters, 0.5 liters or even in 1 liter cups. Their beer is very good and you can never have too much of it.
The staff here is very nice and helpful. Actually this no surprise as there is nothing less you would expect to get here considering the prices. This is the not so good part about Paulaner. The place is very good and the food is nice but the prices are really high. But actually if you want to spend good time here and have really good beer that do not hesitate and do not feel sorry for couple of thousands of drams to spend here. Really,I do advice everyone to come here at least once if not once a week.

Germany

A major part of those that think about traveling the first thing that comes to our minds is Europe. Europe is a must visit who consider themselves travelers. Europe is a very collective expression thought. It is extremely hard to describe it in couple words or even name some common characteristic of the countries. While some European countries have a lot in common, all of the countries are unique and each has its own special characteristics. While some of the countries are alike others can be complete opposites. From modern Berlin to conservative Minsk, all of these are part of Europe. If you have been to 1 or 2 or let’s say even 5 countries you cannot say that you have seen Europe. It is so diverse and interesting that you can travel endlessly and discover a new thing every time you go back.
Some people prefer to visit each country once explaining that that have seen enough of it. Wrong! No matter how many times you have been to any European country you will find something new every time. I can guarantee that to you.
Heart and soul of Europe – Germany. When we hear Germany the first thing that comes to our mind is the capital Berlin, German beer and sausages.  Berlin wall, the Brandenburg gate, Sony Center and other sights can be found in Berlin.
Berlin is such a diverse city. It is famous for its extraordinary pubs, most famous clubs and the remnant of the famous wall that divided the city into 2 parts. Berlin is strange in a way that it is a very modern city-it is hard to find here an old building – tall modern buildings dominate the city but at the same time one can find a lot of history here. When walking near the wall you literally fly back for 40 years and feel the spookiness of it.
From Berlin historic museum to modern day Madame Tussaud’s Berlin has something interesting to offer for every tourist. All you have to do is pack your bags and visit.

90s pub

90s pub is one of the trendiest pubs in Yerevan that is almost always fool especially on Fridays. As the name already says, when you enter here you take a travel in time back to 90s. Every single detail in this place is old and reminds you of your childhood. The interior of the pub is decorated of this whole idea of the sweet old times: even the entrance door here is an old bus door decorated with old cassettes. It may sound crazy but the whole idea works perfectly. The chairs and he tables here are brought to you from the old times. You find here old bicycle on the wall, old lamps and TV as decorations, old posters and even the menu here is a very old thin green notebook handwritten and just like the one everybody used to have back in school. The walls here are naked concrete without any covers that feels like you are in an old basement or a garage. As I said, everything here is very nostalgic. At first, when you read this it may sound very wild and untactful but believe me it feels very comfy and cozy here.
Most of the time there is a DJ here so you can totally hang out here: drink and dance, dance and than drink and than drink and afterwards dance and this can go on till the morning.
Despite the very unique atmosphere here, the most important thing – the drinks are terribly bad here. Couple days ago when I was there with my friends, I ordered Bloody Mary as that is one of the few cocktails that I never get tired of. The one they brought was the worst Bloody Mary I have ever had. The other drinks were not much different either. The doo-doo that actually is the simplest things to ever make was awful as well. I really felt very sorry for the money I had to waste here. So how you think you will have to deal with this? Well, here is a tip. Start your drunk part in some other pub and have a generous amount of alcohol. Later on, continue the party at this place by having just beer or any other drink that is bottled and is not up to their barman to make. So he combination of good atmosphere and horrible drinks can be solved this way.

The Green Bean

The name of this place give you sort of an idea what to expect here. The GB is an eco-café in Yerevan that actually already has 2 location one of which on Amiryan street. This GB has a small balcony open is summers that has one 2 tables that are looking on the street so if you seat here be ready that everyone on the street sees you.
The interior here is very light and airy in white and green. It is very pleasant being here as you feel very light and forget the everyday routine problems. You find here lamps made of glass jars, chairs near the table that do not match at all with each other but the overall picture looks extremely nice and unique. The walls are decorated with nice posters and pictures. Each of them has a nice proverb or a cheering or funny phrase written on it. This place is generally a non-smoking one – nobody smokes here. It isn’t hard to guess as the GB is an eco-place: everything here starting from the ordinary tea until the snack and main dishes are all ecological. This is very nice as you know that you eat here only healthy food. You will not get here the tea in the bags but you get the fresh leaves of different useful herbs in hot water.
The dishes here are always fresh and eco – of that you can be sure. They have very good snack and appetizers here. Try their home-made chips with ranch deep or their bruschetta with veggies. The GB also had a soup of the day for every day in the week. This is a very good option for lunch as it is really fast and delicious. I have tried here their mushroom soup, minestrone and peas cream-soup. All of them were very tasty. The prices of the soups are very affordable. Their range is between 1000-1500 AMD. Agree that for the soups this is a very convenient price.
As everything here is very fresh and eco, the prices are a little bit higher than normal but it is totally worth it. Here, there is no service fee charge so be nice and leave a generous tip for the waiters. They deserve because they are always very nice and helpful.
If you look for a nice place for lunch or just to sit and chat with friends in a very calming atmosphere than I strongly advise you to go to the Green Bean.

Gusto

Gusto is an a la Italian café in Yerevan on Abovyan street. It has a summer porch right on the street with several tables, a first floor and a sort of a zero-floor. The place is not heavily designed but has some light elements that make the place look nice. The wall has some little paintings on them in an Italian style. There are also some marble elements too that look good in the overall picture. The nice thing is that the place does not look heavy like the other Italian designed restaurants or cafes – it is very light and nice.
The cuisine here is the best thing. A unique trick that you find here is that half of the kitchen here is near the outside window so when you are passing on the street and you see the process of making the food, a voice is calling you inside that is hard to resist. From the menu my favorite thing is the tomato soup that is a semi crème-soup that has some pieces of tomato in it. There is also some green in it and a bit of garlic that makes the taste more underlined. Don’t worry, the garlic will not make you stink later. Some other thing that I have tried here is the pastas that come in different shapes and sizes with different sauces that all are very delicious. Even thought I am not a big fan of sweet thing, the desserts here are goo especially the tiramisu.
The waiters here are ice and helpful so sometimes you really feel like you need to leave a generous tip besides from the service charge of 10%.  Even though the place, the dishes and generally everything is very nice here, the prices here are above average. Be ready to pay around 4000 or 5000 AMD if you order a dish and a drink. Even though it is a bit more expensive, I never regret for any dram spent here because usually when I come here I have a good meal and spend good time.
I really advise you to try this place. I promise you will not regret it.

Karloff

Today, when thinking where to spend the perfect Sunday evening with my friends an idea of going to Karloff was born. Karloff is a Czech brewery in Yerevan near Opera.
Karloff shortly describing is a Czech version of Paulaner. It has a quite big area: a little balcony for sitting outside, the first floor and the underground floor. The balcony here is very tiny and it is comfortable to sit there only if you are just going to drink as the tables are too small to accommodate the dishes. The first floor here many tables placed  that are just right for 4 persons. The tables at the underground floor are actually bigger or it is more right to say longer as they are for more people. The underground floor has a lot of big tables and benches around those tables. This place looks like the big hall in the Harry Potter movie. There is some simple but at the same time very Czech style interior here: a lot of dark-colored wood, semi-round arches and lamps. The overall combination looks nice. The first floor is a bit smaller than the zero floor. It has tables and chairs for 4 persons. The style here is the same as the one on the zero floor.
One strange thing about this place is that whenever I pass by here there is never a lot of people here so that made me think that maybe the place is not the best one in its category. The later facts made me such that it certainly is not the best one but just a mediocre Czech pub. Well, the first thing to make me unhappy was the waiter that for no reason was unhappy and grumpy. The food here is OK but when looking at the prices someone would assume that they should be delicious. We ordered here draft beer that was again OK along with the sausages, cheese balls and Greek salad. The worst part was the cheese balls that really had no taste, no sauce came with it, and there were only six of them that were actually very tiny. And the worst part was that it cost 1700 AMD. The Greek salad actually was not that bad and I actually enjoyed it.
Now if you think were to go, this will not be the first place I would advise you but at the same time I cannot say never go here. So, the choice is up to you, maybe you will be luckier than us.

Liberty Pub

Imagine it is a Friday night and you and your friends are looking for a pub to just relax, drink and dance. If you are still looking for it I say you should go to Liberty that is on Mashtots street. It is in a basement floor of a building. The pub was opened in December but since then has already become one of my favorite places.
The atmosphere here is very relaxing and friendly. The pub is being run by a group of young people of about 22 that is maybe why it is always so friendly here. The staff here – the barmen the waiters, basically everybody is very nice and ready to help you. Their positivism is in the air of this place. This is very important because there are place with staff that make you feel uncomfortable and an undesirable guest. Here is the complete opposite.
The interior here is very interesting. There is not a single theme here but there is a combination of various interesting elements that make the overall picture very nice looking. The ceiling here is decorated and wholly covered with newspapers. The walls are decorated with various drawings, posters and picture of Mr. Freeman. There is also a very unique street sign inside that should not be there but looks perfectly with the rest of the interior. The chairs and tables here are from wood and hand-made by the guys that run the place. They are decorated with pillow of various colors. The interesting thing about the chairs and tables here is that they are higher than the average chairs. So you are well above the ground here especially after few drinks. The bar is decorated with green Heineken bottles that actually match with the rest. The idea is that a combination of totally odd things here work great together and the overall picture is nice.
Now about what will make you come here – the drinks. First of all, their menu is very unique – it is on a vinyl record. So when you ask for the menu you get a vinyl record with everything written on it.  The prices here are cheaper than in an average pub elsewhere but the quality is actually higher than in any other place. No joking – they have the BEST Bloody Mary or Doo-doo I have ever tried. They add some special sauce inside the BM that makes it so good that you actually want more and more of it. Here, there is also a selection of snacks and basic sandwiches just so you will not stay hungry.
I strongly recommend you to come here. This place is a bingo as it combines great prices with great cocktails and interesting interior with extremely nice and friendly staff.
